Natural Toilet Cleaner

Check out this all-natural way to keep your toilets clean!

So, toddler update: P’s newest and most favorite past time is to hastily trot through any open bathroom door, head straight for the toilet, open the lid, and give it a good splash.

Gross, I know.

And yes, of course we try to remember to close the doors. But we forget sometimes. And she splashes sometimes. And the only thing that keeps my grossed out mama mind at ease is the fact that I clean those toilets (regularly). And even more so than that, I clean it with a homemade mixture that, if (when) P gets it on her skin, won’t cause any sort of harm. It’s 100% natural and toxin free.

Want in on the toddler-conscious homemade toilet cleaner? Even if your kiddo doesn’t find pleasure in splashing in questionable waters, it’s still an easy, natural, super inexpensive way to keep your toilet bowl clean. So if you’re interested, check out my simple recipe and steps below!

  1. Baking Soda
  2. Essential Oils- Lemon, Rosemary, Tea Tree, Lavender
  3. White Vinegar (cleaning vinegar)

  1. Pour 1 cup of baking soda into a glass storage container that can be sealed (Yes, it must be glass. The essential oils in step two will break down plastic if stored for very long).
  2. Drop 10-12 drops of each essential oil into the baking soda. Mix thoroughly and until all clumps are broken apart.
  3. Sprinkle 1 Tbls of the mixture in your toilet bowl. Scrub thoroughly with a toilet brush.
  4. Before flushing, poor a few Tbls of vinegar into the toilet. Scrub again, just for good measure.
  5. Flush, and store cleaner until next use!

Easy as that. And if I had to guess… you might already have all these ingredients at home. Give it a try and let me know how you like it! It leaves my bathroom smelling fresh and helps prevent my heart from jumping out of my chest every time I hear that dreaded splashy-splash ?
